The first authorized adaptation of Dracula was a 1924 play by Hamilton Deane, was revised a couple of times and then made its way to Broadway in 1927 starring Bela Lugosi, as the first Dracula on stage and on the screen in America.

After dying out amongst audiences in America and England by the early 1950’s, there was another revival of Dracula in 1977. As a new revised play on Broadway Frank Langella was one of the next Dracula’s on the stage and the screen a few years later.

There have been at least 106 film adaptations of Dracula, with the most recent being Dracula Untold (2014). Another adaptation is coming out April, 2023, under the name of Renfield with Nicolas Cage as Count Dracula. ​​There is many more adaptations of Dracula through television, books, and comics, and many more take inspiration from Bram Stoker’s work.
