Learning Environments
The teacher works with learners to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation.

This is a lesson plan that was created for a general education classroom that has students with disabilities within the class. It was important to create a plan that all students could have good access to and do well within the classroom. This lesson plan has the students learning a lot about how to place themself into different perspectives and a lot of the learning does so within partners or the class as a whole. There are times for individual work, but most of the background is collaborative and the end of the class is open for students to share their work in a judgement free environment.

Poetry can be a positive and cathartic experience for students, allowing them an outlet for their emotions and what is happening in their lives. I think that this assignment was important to include because it this specific plan and other ones like it allow students to build on their creative writing, working with classmates, and sharing their work with others. These skills are necessary not only in the classroom but beyond, into real life and what will come after school for all of our students. It’s important to help set students up for success in their lives through any path and life journey that they choose.
