Daily Create Tdc#3446

I had just recently found out about Juneteenth as of this past week. I knew that the Emancipation Proclamation which freed enslaved people was passed in June in 1862. I did not know that it was a holiday though and something that was celebrated. It is bizarre that this is a newly recognized holiday because freeing the slaves was an important movement not just for the African-Americans but also the United States of America. It’s good to see that the times are changing for the better and there are better recognized holidays, similarly to how Columbus day is being changed to Indigenous People’s Day. All important events during the course of the United States history should be remembered, not just celebrated like many people like to do, so that we can all remind ourselves of the tremendous changes we made and what still has to be done.
